Joker: Folie à Deux, a sequel to the 2019 Joker, is set to hit theatres Oct. 24, 2024 and takes an interesting musical spin away from its predecessor.

While Joaquin Phoenix will be reprising his Oscar winning role as the Joker, Lady Gaga will also be joining the cast to take on the role of Joker’s love interest, Harley Quinn.

The film, directed by Todd Phillips, will follow the blossoming of Joker and Harley’s daredevil romance at Arkham Asylum.

Zazie Beetz, who will be reprising her role as Sophie Dummond, has teased that audiences should expect the unexpected in the new film.

In a recent interview with Variety Beetz said “I think people will be surprised,… I don’t think it’s going to be what they expect, around it being musical,”

“We all sort of express musically and dancing in our lives day-to-day,… I think it’s going to work really well,” Beetz teases.

Composer Hildur Guðnadóttir who won an Oscar for her work on Joker talks about the musical decision as she says “It’s both logical and also very surprising for me as well as the audience. So far, it’s just been a really beautiful conversation, and I’m really excited to see how it unfolds.”
