2024 Canadian Screen Awards nominees
Written by: Hailey Goebel
The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television, also known as the Canadian Academy, has recently announced the 2024 Canadian Screen Awards nominees in 156 categories across television, film and digital media.
Matt Johnson's BlackBerry has set a new record in the film category with 17 nominations, making it the most nominated film in the history of the Canadian Screen Awards. On the other hand, Little Bird leads the television category with 19 nominations.
The Canadian Screen Awards celebrate the top talent in the film, television and digital sectors.
The awards began in 2013 by merging the Academy's Gemini and Genie Awards, which previously honoured English-language television and film, respectively.
The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television is the largest non-profit organization in Canada, supporting media arts professionals across the country. With a membership of more than 4,000 emerging and established industry professionals, the Canadian Academy strives to develop, recognize, celebrate, and advocate for Canadian talent and aims to create a more equitable and diverse Canadian screen-based industry.
Canadian comedian and actor Mae Martin will host the 2024 broadcast show, airing Friday, May 31 at 8 p.m. on CBC and CBC Gem.
