Fans of comedy shows are in luck because Netflix released its latest series “Unstable” on March 30.

The show follows “Ellis (Rob Lowe) and his inner circle — his long-suffering CFO, super smart scientists, and nosy board members — as they attempt to save the company from impending disaster when Ellis spirals after his wife’s death. Most crucial to the mission is Ellis’ son Jackson (John Owen Lowe)”

I had the chance to sit down (virtually) with actors Aaron Branch and Rachel Marsh who play “Malcolm Drummond” and “Luna Castillo” in the series, to talk about her time on set, what drew them to their characters, and more.

You can read the full interview below.

Gracie Lowes: First off congratulations on the release of “Unstable”! How has this release been both building up to it and now being able to hear back from the viewers, especially since it’s on such a global platform like Netflix?

Aaron Branch: “It’s been very relieving. I think we just had so much fun filming the show, that to now finally have it out and receive positive affirmation from the general public is pretty surreal.”

Rachel Marsh: “Yeah I agree. I feel like when you’re shooting something you’re like ‘oh man I think this is so good,’ but you really don’t know if it’s good until people watch it and tell you it’s good. It’s relieving to realize ‘Oh I’m not crazy’ the writing and these actors are so good, everything in the show is good. It’s taken us a while to actually say that out loud because I feel like, for a long time we were at a phase where we didn’t know if it was going to be made. But now that it’s done and out it’s just the best feeling, and we’ve been celebrating every day.”

Gracie: What drew you both to want to take on these characters and this project? Was it the script, your fellow actors on set, etc?

Rachel: “When I first got the script I was like ‘Oh I definitely know who this character is’ and I also thought she would be really fun to play, so that was the first thing that got me on board. And then just knowing that Victor (Fresco) was on board, I watched “Santa Clarita Diet” and I grew up watching ‘Parks and Recreation’ so that was how I knew what comedy was just by watching those characters. And then also with Fred (Armisen), I grew up on “Portlandia,” so it was so special for me to be able to be in a show with him. It was overall just a combination of all the actors involved, all the producers and showrunners, and also this character that I really was excited to get to play got me on board.”

Aaron: “I would say it was definitely the writing for me. It felt very similar to the sense of humor that me and my friends have back home. And also Victor for sure, I watched “Better Off Ted” when it was on ABC and didn’t really know that was Victor until I dove into his discography and realized ‘Oh he’s the guy that made this show,’ then after that, I binge watched “Santa Clarita Diet.” I also just felt so connected to Malcolm because what he’s going through is so similar to past things that I’ve gone through during my first three years in LA, so it all felt like this was the one and I’m so happy it turned out the way it did.”

Gracie: If you both could describe this series in three words what would they be and why?

Aaron: “Wacky, heartfelt, and fun.”

Rachel: “LOL, silly and shocking.”
