Meet pop and country music’s newest breakout star, singer-songwriter Laetitia Sam.

Written by: Gracie Lowes

If you’re looking for a new artist to add to all your favourite playlists… look no further, Swiss-born singer-songwriter Laetitia Sam is making her mark in the music industry.

Bringing her unique mix of Rap, R&B, and Country-infused music, Sam is building up fans’ excitement for her newest studio album set to be released sometime in 2024.

Taking inspiration from other strong female artists such as Adele and Taylor Swift, the nine-song album covers themes such as toxic relationships and the pain of abandonment, while still finding a way to deliver powerful ballads.

I had the chance to sit down (virtually) with Laetitia Sam, to talk to her about her creative process, her goals for her future, what she hopes fans take from her music and more.

You can read the full interview below.

Gracie Lowes: Congratulations on your career thus far! I know you’re set to release your newest studio album, could you tell us what the creative process was like for this and what you hope fans take from it as a whole?

Laetitia Sam: “First, thank you so much for having me, I am so grateful for the opportunity. So, it was a really unique process because we wrote the album in 3 months and recorded in only 3 weeks. I worked with an amazing producer, Hayden Maringer and he helped me through this process. My fans, my Samers, can expect country pop music with new fresh vibes like Shania Twain but in 2024. I'm so proud of this album and can't wait to have my fans’ feedback!”

Gracie: Making an album is a labor of love, but how did you decide which tracks made the final cut? Was there a process to picking them?

Laetitia: “With Hayden, we wrote lyrics about my life stories. We had an instant artistic connection. We wrote 10 songs and picked 9! We could say it was almost a full success!”

Gracie: I love how open and honest your music is, all while still being catchy and melodically pleasing. How do you find inspiration for your music and their stories?

Laetitia: “Thank you so much for your kind words. To be honest it's just all about my own story or stories about my close friends and family. I can't be inspired by something that didn't happen to my life near or far. I need to be involved in the story to be creative and I really want to share that with the people who perhaps, feel alone in their stories and they can say, ‘Ok, I'm not alone anymore about this or that.’”

Gracie: You’ve had so many great accomplishments in your career so far, what are some dream goals that you have for your future?

Laetitia: “I would love to write music for a Series or TV show, I find inspiration in them. Also of course, be on stage with my album and to meet my incredible fans from all around the world.”

Gracie: I know you have your album release coming up, but do you have any future projects that you could tell us about or hint at?

Laetitia: “Every 6 - 8 weeks another song will be released online on major music platforms, (YouTube, Spotify, etc.) I would love to organize some intimate showcases with my fans to share my art with them. That's the main goal these next few months.”

Gracie: If you could describe yourself and your music in 3 words what would they be and why?

Laetitia: “Open, because I'm a very open-minded person and it's very important for me that my art reflects this. I'm not stuck in one style or vibe, I need to discover and share a lot of different aspects.

Different, I don't want to fit in one category of artist. I have my own personality and my art reflects that sweet mix of stories, life, creativity, and sensitivity in one. My fans as well are kind, unique, and love to represent the differences in people.

Real, I'm a real person with an open heart. I really love to be close to nature, animals, and you can see that in my art and music style etc.”
