Netflix is ringing in this holiday season with their latest family film “Family Switch” which is out now.

The film follows “The Walkers who are a nuclear family of five: Mom Jess, Dad Bill, 16 year old daughter CC, 14 year old son Wyatt, and 2 year old son Miles. But when a mysterious event occurs at the Griffith Park Planetarium, the nuclear elements split and recombine; Jess's mind is in CC's body (and vice versa), while Bill's mind is in WYATT's body (and vice versa). While CC and Wyatt try to navigate the impossibly complicated world that is adulthood (responsibilities, skills, fears, ambitions), Jess and Bill must work their way through the insanely intricate network of rites of passage (bullying, soccer games, music, parties, romance) that comes with being a teenager, while all four scramble to undo the spell that catastrophically recombined their personalities.”

I had the chance to sit down (virtually) with actor Sebastian Quinn who plays “Alex” in the film, to talk about his time on set, what drew him to the character, and more.

You can read the full interview below.

Gracie Lowes: First off congratulations on the release of “Family Switch''! How has this release been both building up to it and now having it out globally?

Sebastian Quinn: “Definitely lucky with the timing between SAG Aftra’s resolution of the strike and the release of Family Switch. It was great to be able to do a live premiere and reunite with the cast and McG. Also crazy that it made it to the top 5 in so many countries.”

Gracie: These characters go through a lot in the film. Could you talk a bit about what it’s like stepping into your character “Alex”?

Sebastian: “I just had to react to Jennifer Garner doing what she does best and the character was there. She did all the heavy work and created such a funny character to act alongside. Also had to act like a soccer expert and take notes on a notepad, which I proceeded with trying to draw McG behind the camera. Thankfully we never get to see the notepad.”

Gracie: Everyone on this set seems super close, I’m wondering do you have a favourite moment or memory from the set?

Sebastian: “While we were shooting one of the final scenes I got to see Pickles the dog, exhibiting enviable star power acting alongside screen legends. I was both amazed and jealous.”

Gracie: The personality switch theme has been done for quite a few movies and TV shows, what was it that made this one stand out and drew you to want to be a part of this project?

Sebastian: “I think the cast and their chemistry make it stand out, as well as the script jokes, cause they acknowledge the familiar formula and make it edgier with a tongue-in-cheek POV.”

Gracie: If you could describe this film in three words what would they be and why?

Sebastian: “Cozy, bright, playful.”

Gracie: Do you have any future projects you could hint at or talk about?

Sebastian: “I am in a film that recently came out in theatres and on demand called Miranda’s Victim, a courtroom drama about the Miranda Rights origin where I play Ernesto Miranda. Also looking forward to season 2 of Based On A True Story, after playing Carlos in the first season on Peacock/ NBC.”
